The Deal Closes in the Boardroom.
It Succeeds or Fails in the Network.
About Me
I am Erdinc Betin, founder of WiseNets — an independent advisory practice helping organisations navigate the complexity of M&A IT integration and infrastructure transformation.
In 1999, I watched Japan Tobacco acquire R.J. Reynolds from the inside — not as an executive shaping the deal, but as the person responsible for making the infrastructure actually work once it was signed. That was the moment I understood something most integration plans still miss: the deal closes in a boardroom, but it succeeds or fails in the network, the vendor contracts, the access rights, and the sites nobody in the SteerCo has visited.
I carried that lesson through 23 years leading global infrastructure and post-acquisition integration at JTI in Geneva — 15+ acquisitions, 60+ countries, 600+ locations, and every integration failure mode a plan doesn’t warn you about. In August 2024, I stepped away. Not because I was finished — because I had learned enough to help other CIOs and integration leaders avoid the mistakes I had already made, and fix the ones already in motion.
That is what WiseNets is: 30+ years of infrastructure experience, applied directly to the moments in an M&A integration where technology decisions carry the highest business impact.
